University of Central Florida president John Hitt's contract is expected to be up for discussion when the University's board of trustees meets.
Hitt is making an annual salary of $490,000.
A large severance package is also part of his contract, which was approved in July 2011.
The severance pay provision in his contract called for two years of payments of his base salary if Hitt was dismissed without cause.
A vote to remove the provision will be held on Thursday.
In its place, an additional one year of compensation would be paid only if the work this fiscal year is performed and the president is dismissed without cause at some point in the future, according to UCF spokesman Chad Binette.
Otherwise, it is forfeited.
"This is a minor change to the contract to bring it into compliance with state statute," said Board chair Micky Grindstaff. "Since it deals with dismissal without cause, I can't imagine it ever being an issue with Dr. Hitt."
There were protests surrounding Hitt's $26,000 raise.
